With the world’s eyes on Rio, Parramatta Little Athletics Centre is expecting record registrations this spring, as local children want the chance to emulate their track and field idols.
“We’re extremely lucky to have financial support from Parramatta Leagues club,” King said. “It’s awesome to have a new playing strip, caps and training shirts but, to be honest, the addition of specialist tackling rings, agility poles and training balls has helped so much in the development of our playing talent. Without help from Parra Leagues we would have been really short of training gear, especially on nights when multiple teams train together”.
Parramatta Leagues Club will be assisting Parramatta Mission again this year to make sure people in our community won’t have to go without at Christmas time. Through the generous giving of supporters last year, the Leagues Club helped Parramatta Mission to provide over 650 food and gift hampers to families and individuals who were homeless, at risk of homelessness, facing crisis or in need of assistance.
Learning to drive can be an exciting step on the path to independence for many young people but for those living with disabilities there can be additional hurdles to overcome.
On the 11th August, 2015 Parramatta Leagues Club presented a cheque for $9,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy New South Wales Organisation which provides a range of services and support to those affected by Muscular Dystrophy.
Parramatta Leagues Club was proud to present a cheque for $2,000 in August to Mercy Works for their Mercy Connect Sydney Project as part of the ClubGrants Scheme. This program is a targeted intervention program that provides in-school mentoring to students from refugee, asylum seeker and humanitarian backgrounds.
Clubs in the Parramatta LGA gathered at Parramatta Leagues Club on August 11 to distribute just over $300,000 in ClubGrant donations to local charities & organisations. At this year's presentation Parramatta Leagues Club donated a combined total of $147,420 to 16 different organisations.
Parramatta Leagues Club was proud to present a cheque for $5,000 to the very talented Kristy Pond to help her compete at the upcoming Cerebral Palsy World Games in Nottingham, England, August 2015.
More than 5,000 babies are born at Westmead every year and of these, it is estimated that 30% will require acute or critical care. A Panda Warmer is used to provide all-in-one support for unwell babies at birth.
For many years now, Parramatta Leagues Club has been a generous supporter of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and is proud to continue its support in 2015, this time for Camp Lionheart, an initiative of the Kids Rehab Department.
My Heroes round was our chance to salute the incredible work of our three gold charity partners: Careflight, the Children's Hospital at Westmead, and Ronald McDonald House Westmead. The club was very proud to donate $10,000 to each of these three partners through the Club Grants program.
