This year has felt anything but normal, and whilst large social gatherings were put on hold for most of the year, this wasn’t going to stop the Special Children’s Christmas Party from going ahead. The Special Children’s Christmas Parties have been running for more than 25 years. Each year the events get bigger and better with new and exciting entertainment and toys for the children. Whilst the event itself had to change the Christmas cheer for these children was still the main priority for this event to go ahead.
As written on the Special Children’s Christmas Party website in response to COVID:
As the threat of COVID-19 has spread across the world, we have been committed to ensuring that the children and families we invite will not miss the opportunity to experience the kindness and generosity of the community in which they live. With consideration for the potential of exposing children with multiple disabilities, co-morbidities and compromised immune systems, we have decided not to gather them all together. Some areas are doing drive thru’s of toy collections, others, virtual events; we are committed to send Christmas Spirit to the children!
Parra Leagues contributed $10,000 to this highly deserving cause to support this amazing Christmas charity event. We believe the event displays an important part of Christmas: spreading Christmas cheer to all. This year it was especially important to give back to the community, as everyone had felt the effects of the pandemic in some form.
