FROM THE CEO: Regulation changes & how Parra Leagues and Vikings Sports comply

27 Jul, 2020

Dear Members and patrons,

Firstly I would like to thank all of you, as well as our amazing staff for their efforts to date. I’d like to update you on the latest news relating to COVID-19 regulation and safety measures. It is because of your collaboration and co-operation that we can continue to trade, keeping people employed, supporting the community and the Parramatta Eels.

The NSW Government released an amendment to the current Public Health Order on Friday 24 July. In response to this, we have implemented changes at Parra Leagues and Vikings Sports Club to ensure that we both comply and keep you safe.

Importantly, the NSW Government has acknowledged that large Clubs are better able to accommodate more patrons safely. The most recent regulations state that the capacity of each separate area in a venue is 1 patron per 4 square metres or 300 patrons, whichever is lower. The latest regulations issued at midnight Thursday 23 July increase the amount of regulation for areas within a venue.

Parra Leagues now operates two separate areas; ground/level one and level two/level three. This means our venue capacity at Parra Leagues is 553 patrons. Each separate area has its own dedicated COVID-Safe Hygiene Marshall, its own COVID-19 Safety Plan, and our already rigorous safety and hygiene controls are being maintained.

Whilst we monitor transmission levels in Sydney, we have made the decision to temporarily close Kicks Tenpin & Arcade from 9.30pm Sunday 26 July until further notice. We don’t like limiting the range of options for our patrons, however we are choosing safety over maximising revenue, and we trust that we can reinstate this facility soon.

Pablo’s remains closed, and functions will not be available at Parra Leagues or Vikings, except for existing community partners.

Vikings Sports Club is operating as a single area and, given its floor space, can accommodate 239 patrons. It already has its own COVID-Safe Hygiene Marshall, its own COVID-19 Safety Plan, and our rigorous safety and hygiene controls are being maintained there as well. Similarly to Parra Leagues, the kids play area at Vikings Sports will be closed and the arcade machines in Little Vikings will be switched off from Sunday 26 July to reduce the risk of transmission. All other areas of the Club including the dining area remain open.

I thank our Members and guests for their continued patronage and co-operation. I am confident that with your support, we will continue to provide the safest environment that we can for you.

Sincerely yours,

Bevan Paul
