Parramatta District Cricket Club makes Australian Cricket History
Parramatta District Cricket Club has etched its name into Australian cricket history, becoming the first club ever to have three players selected in an Australian Cricket Team from the same club.
Nitesh Samuel, Naden Cooray and John James have all earned national selection—an extraordinary milestone that reflects the strength, depth, and excellence of Parramatta District Cricket Club’s development pathways.
This historic achievement comes off the back of an outstanding campaign at the Under 19 Male National Championships in Perth, where the NSW Metro squad secured an impressive third-place finish. Parramatta’s influence was unmistakable throughout the tournament.
Nitesh Samuel delivered a standout performance, finishing as Player of the Tournament and leading run scorer, while Naden Cooray, John James and Sumair Sira dominated with the ball, finishing as the top three wicket-takers of the championships. Fellow Parra players Blake Noorbergen and Sumair Sira were also unlucky to miss national selection, further highlighting the club’s exceptional depth of talent.
Adding to the club’s success, 20-year-old leg spinner Ryan Gupta made a remarkable debut for the NSW Men’s Second XI, just one step away from Sheffield Shield cricket, claiming seven wickets across the match against Victoria.
At the elite level, Parramatta product Sean Abbott was named in Australia’s 15-man Ashes squad for the First Test, a testament to the club’s ability to produce players capable of competing on the world stage.
The club’s on-field success continues domestically, with Parramatta crowned reigning Men’s First Grade Premiers and Club Champions, recently sweeping all five men’s grades against Balmain/Sydney. The Parramatta women’s program is also producing outstanding results, with more exciting announcements to come.
