Strong 75th Anniversary Year Forecast
In 1947, 75 years ago, our mighty Parramatta Rugby League Club entered the Sydney Competition – the very start of the Parramatta Group.
What an exciting year 2022 promises to be!
Confidence is high for another good season for the Eels, with major developments at the Leagues Club and Vikings Sports on the way!
Just last week, your Directors signed off on the project to build the first major extension of Parra Leagues for many years – a $5 million al fresco, all weather, social food and beverage outlet which can seat up to 150 patrons! Our Member surveys showed that the number one priority for Members at Parra Leagues was more space dedicated to social engagement – somewhere to sit, chat, have a quiet drink and something good to eat.
Right beside it, in Eels Lane, will be a new Walk of Fame, featuring plaques dedicated to Eels greats, leading across to CommBank Stadium. A covered walkway between the carpark and the Club entrance will be added for Members’comfort.
Vikings Sports Club will receive further investment and strengthen its position as the premier community club in Dundas Valley.
400 memorabilia treasures recovered from storage will be catalogued, and arrangements made to display the best.
We plan to contribute around $1millon to the Community through ClubGRANTSand will introduce paid volunteer days for Club staff to assist our Community partners.
These will all be funded from the Club’s own resources, highlighting our Clubs’good trading performance, their popularity, and the great loyalty of Members.
During 2021, we sold properties at Ferris Street and Ross Street, and shortly will sell 2 more properties no longer used to house players. They have served their purpose and the value of these assets will be better directed to improved Member facilities.
We are blessed with stable Boards of highly professional Directors at both the Eels and the Licenced Clubs, dedicated solely to the best interests of Members.
It has been refreshing that Parra has been able to move forward without the political ructions of the past.
We have strengthened our Management team led by Chief Executive Chris Dimou, with new Chief Operating Officer Kerrie Wadwell complementing highly regarded Chief Financial Officer Nikky Van Der Meer and the Senior Leadership Team.
Together, we look forward to a great year for Parra Leagues, Vikings Sports Club and the Eels.
Thanks
Greg Monaghan
